| Backlot Players Auditions and Upcoming Events |
| Auditions for the upcoming Backlot Players’ musical “Smoke on the Mountain” will be held on Sunday, February 19 at 2:00 p.m. and Tuesday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. We are in need of 4 males and 3 females. Come to the Rose Theater (23 West Johnston Street, Historic Forsyth Courthouse square) prepared to sing. If you have any questions, please call 994-0443. Good luck and see you there!
The upcoming Backlot Players’ show is the Tennessee Williams’s sultry drama “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”. The show opens on Friday, February 10 at 8:00 pm. Other night performances are on February 11, 16, 17, and 18, all at 8:00 pm. The single matinee will be held on Sunday, February 12 at 2:00 pm. All performances will be held at the Rose Theater (23 West Johnston Street, Historic Forsyth Courthouse square). Call 994-0443 to reserve your seat now. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, and $7 for students. This show is definitely for adults and it would be best to hire a babysitter for the little ones. Plan to support the performing arts in middle Georgia by attending a very enjoyable afternoon or evening of Community Theater with the Backlot Players.
The Backlot Players of Forsyth will present their 4th Annual Forsythia Festival Musicale on March 3 and 4 at 7:00 pm. All performances will be held in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in Forsyth, located at 95 West Morse Street. Tickets cost $10 for everyone and may be purchased at Monroe County Bank (Forsyth and Bolingbroke), The Forsyth Chamber of Commerce, and at the First Baptist Church. Seating is limited so you are urged to purchase your tickets early. All proceeds benefit the Rose Theater Renovation Fund.
Also, we are currently undergoing a major renovation of the Rose Theater. It is already the jewel of downtown Forsyth with the addition of the brand new marquee. We are currently selling seats at a cost of $200 per seat. A plaque will be placed in honor or memory of the person of your choice. We have sold many already and have only about 40 left. If you would like to buy one (or a few), do not hesitate…buy today. And don’t worry, when the seats are all sold, there is plenty left to buy.
