In 1952, when Marvin Schwan first took his dairy business on the road, times were different. Most of our customers lived in rural areas. Marvin's delivery service was the only way to get a variety of high-quality frozen food and dairy products.

Marvin and his parents were the owners of a small struggling dairy. The government dairy prices created a competitive market. But Marvin discovered an opportunity. North of Marshall, MN, he learned that ice cream was selling at a higher price. One morning, he loaded 14 gallons of ice cream into his old panel truck and ventured north. By sundown he'd sold the entire stock. Schwan's home delivery system was under way. From those humble beginnings at a family farm arose the diversified business now known as Schwan's Sales Enterprises, Inc.

Today, life is more hectic. Time is short. And customers across the nation are still coming home to Schwan's because they want the best in nutritious, well-balanced meals for their families.

Times have changed. But our values remain as strong today as the day Marvin started the business.

We remain proud of our roots. Our corporate office still occupies the site of the original Schwan's Dairy. Home delivery, which began with our signature ice cream almost 50 years ago, is now available in all 48 states of the continental United States.
