Wednesday, March 1st 7-9pm Macon Writers Workshop-
Cliff Chandler hosts this opportunity for writers to fine tune a work in progress. Bring three pages of a current manuscript or two poems to work on. It is requested that you bring eight copies of the piece you bring to work on. Come prepared to work.

Friday, March 3rd Little Readers Storytime 10:30am

This week we feature “If You Give a Pig a Party.” We will read the book then children can make their own party hats to take home. We have a storytime at this hour each week and incorporate fun activities designed to enhance the reading experience. The activities are geared toward children ages 0-5, but the whole family is welcome.

Saturday, March 4th from 12-2pm Dr. Rudy Scarfalloto, Chiropractor, will be here to sign his book “The Dance of Opposites: Ancient Wisdom for promoting health and happiness in the here and now.”

In straight forward language Dr. Rudy guides us through some of emotional and spiritual issues that can have an impact on our health. Come meet Dr. Rudy and get your own signed copy of his book.

Saturday, March 4th from 2-3pm the Middle Georgia Writers Association

All are welcome. Both published and non-published writers meet to discuss the writing process and offer support to one another. You are welcome to bring a copy of something you are working on but it is not required.

Friday, March 10th Little Readers Club

Thomas the Train will be featured. We have temporary tattoos, posters and fun activities to go along with our story reading time.

Friday, March 10th from 6-9pm Dr. Catherine Meeks of Wesleyan University to sign her books Standing on Their Shoulders and her autobiography I Want Someone to Know My Name

March is Women’s History Month. Celebrate with us and author Catherine Meeks as she signs her books. Standing on Their Shoulders is a Celebration of the wisdom of African American Women and features 100 local women. I Want Someone to Know My Name is her own story. Come meet this fascinating and inspiring woman.

Saturday, March 11th from 12-2pm Photographer and Author Glenn Grossman

For years Glenn has photographed Macon’s Cherry Blossom Festival. His stunning book takes the best of those pictures and combines them along with some historical notes and interesting facts. Come and get your copy signed and beat the festival rush.

Saturday, March 11th from 2-4pm Cliff Chandler will be here signing his books The Paragons, Vengeance Mine and Devastated

Come meet this charming and interesting author as he signs his books. He writes mysteries that are full of intrigue and action.

Saturday, March 11th from 3-5 Billy Powell to sign Pride of the Panthers

Mr. Powell says this book is a gift from God. Come and find out why as he signs his book about the Perry Panthers.

Sunday, March 12th Rob Cleveland to perform and sign his books How Tiger Got his Stripes, The Clever Monkey, The Magic Apple and The Drum

Mr. Cleveland is in town to perform the Stinky Cheeseman. While he’s here he has agreed to perform his own books at Barnes & Noble, Macon. His books are his own unique retelling of traditional folk tales from around the world. There will be multiple short performances so you don’t have to be here at the start to get the full show.

Monday, March 13th Rob Cleveland Returns to perform and sign his books How Tiger Got his Stripes, The Clever Monkey, The Magic Apple and The Drum

I can’t wait to see his dramatic retelling of these traditional folk tales. Come and stay through two or three performances, whatever is convenient.

Wednesday, March 15th at 10:30 The Barnes & Noble Bookclub meets

All are welcome to join this group of gracious ladies as they discuss their current book.

We’ll read some of our favorite Dr. Seuss books and have fun activities geared toward young children ages 0-7, though the whole family is welcome. We want to have fun things going on at the store for this age group every Saturday at 2pm, so keep an eye out to see what’s happening next.

Rachel will sign her books as live worship dancers demonstrate her techniques. Come see how her ideas are revolutionizing church worship.

Sunday, March 26th 2pm American Girl Book Club Discusses Meet Kit

Saturday, April 1st through Monday, April 3rd Rutland High School Bookfair

Contact Rutland High School for more information about how you can help their school raise funds for their media center and Library. We’ll have a selection of books from their Librarian’s wish list available for purchase and donation to the library. A percentage of the proceeds of all special voucher sales will go back to the school to be used to improve their Media Center. Vouchers are only available through the school, prior to the event.

Sunday April 2nd 3-5 Celebrate the start of Baseball Season with Author Marc Jolley and others

Got Spring fever? Can’t wait for baseball season to start? Bummed that the Braves first game is away? We have the answer. Come out and have some fun with us.

Tuesday, April 4th through Tuesday April 11th Central High School Bookfair

Student Art will be on exhibit in the store. Contact the school to find out how you can participate. You can help their school raise money by obtaining a voucher from the school and shopping with it at our store. A percentage of all special voucher sales will go back to the school to use for whatever purpose they decide. Vouchers are available only through the school.

This event is open to all American Girl fans. We will have special activities based on the books of the American Girl series. Tea and treats will be served. Girls are welcome to dress up and bring their dolls, but it is not required.

Wednesday, April 19th from 6-9pm Romance Author Karen Kay to sign her books and lecture on the topic of “How to get published with one of the big New York Publishing Houses”

Karen Kay has published many books and is not only willing to sign her most recent work Spirit and the Wolf and other titles but will offer up her advice about how to get published with one of the big publishing houses. Macon is a city of writers, so a good turn out is expected.

Friday, April 21st from 5-7pm Author Megan Timothy will stop by to sign her book Let Me Die Laughing

Megan is a former model and actress who has survived brain injury. She wasn’t supposed to be able to read or even walk again. Not only can she do those things but she is riding her bicycle from California to Macon, and beyond, has written a book and will be here to sign it. She is dedicating herself to the cause of Literacy, so she is a natural ally of Barnes & Noble, Inc.. We are pleased to have Meagan stop in to share her inspirational story with us.
