| Vince Dooley To Be At Barnhart Book Signing |
| List Of Former Bulldogs Continues To Grow For Event
MACON, GA.-Former University of Georgia Athletic Director Vince Dooley will be in attendance for Tony Barnhart's book signing at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame (GSHF) on Monday night, August 23rd. Dooley, along with 13 other Bulldog players, will be signing Barnhart's new work, "What It Means To Be A Bulldog."
Regular admission will be required to enter the GSHF and the book will be sold in the GSHF gift shop. The GSHF asks the public to bring no more than two additional items to be signed.
Former All-Americans Mike "Moonpie" Wilson (1976) and Rex Robinson (1979 & 1980) are also scheduled to appear with 11 other Bulldogs who were interviewed for the book. They include: Herb St. John (1946 All-American), John Carson (1953 All-American), Len Hauss (3-time NFL All-Pro), Dr. Tommy Lyons (2-time All-American), George Patton (1964 All-American), Jim Wilson (1964 All-American), Randy Johnson (1975 All-American), George Collins (1977 All-American), Knox Culpepper (1984 team captain), John Lastinger (Led UGA to a 20-2-1 record as starting quarterback in 1982-83), Bob Taylor and Kirby Moore who helped engineer the stunning upset over top-ranked Alabama in 1965.
"What It Means To Be A Bulldog," published by Triumph Books, allows some of the greatest football players and coaches in University of Georgia history tell why wearing the red and black was so meaningful. The book includes interviews with Herschel Walker, Fran Tarkenton, Larry Munson, Charlie Trippi, Erk Russell and over 70 more. Triumph Books began this new series by highlighting Ohio State University last year. Notre Dame will also be featured this year along with Georgia.
Dooley is the winningest head football coach in UGA history with a record of 201-77-10. He led Georgia to the 1980 National Championship and six Southeastern Conference titles. He became athletic director 1979 and served in that capacity through June 2004.
Barnhart is a longtime college sports writer and columnist for the Atlanta Journal- Constitution. He has also served as a reporter for ESPN's College GameDay. This is the second book Barnhart has written on college football. In 2001, he penned the highly popular "Southern Fried Football", and the GSHF held two separate book signings for that work.
